According to WikiHow, Procrastination is the art of avoiding required tasks by allocating tremendous importance on actions more useless, mundane, or interesting. Procrastination is generally considered unproductive, and many teachers, bosses, and managers take great pains to point out it delays the inevitable and places a spanner in the works of completing tasks.
Why is Procrastination normally addressed as a "Bad Habit"?
Most of the time, people address procrastination as a bad habit because it can lead to poor academic performance. A study by Case Western Reserve University determined that college students who procrastinated experienced higher levels of stress, increased episodes of illness, and poorer grades by semester’s end.
- Is it really a bad habit?
Procrastinating isn't always a bad habit, sometimes procrastination provides time to reflect on what's more important. You need time to think about what matters most in life then, you can act accordingly and do what matters most.
Does Procrastinating really have good effects?
Sometimes, procrastinating can have advantages too. Much better decisions may result from procrastination because it helps your brain to think better and faster. However, not all the time can it be successful. Procrastination allows your mind to process and your most creative ideas may come through procrastination.
- Are procrastinators better than early birds?
Even though, procrastinating may result to a better decision or idea, it is better for you to plan what will you do and what matters the most to avoid cramming and being unorganized.
How does procrastination affect my academics?
As a student, it is normal for us to procrastinate and delay our works. Sometimes, too much procrastination can lead to the disadvantages of procrastinating and because of that, it affects our grades in school. Some of our grades may be high due to procrastination which helps our brain to think better and faster but some of our grades may also be low because of too much procrastination. Still, it is better to be an early bird because as the saying goes "The Early Bird gets the worm" and if you were to pass your requirements ahead of everybody else, you'd have more advantages and not to mention, saving your time as well. Even though procrastination may help us with critical thinking , it is still a bad habit because it can lead to laziness.
Note: It is more effective not to procrastinate, it is better for you to finish it on time.
